Yippeeeee .....
I am sooo happy that I can finally write about them ....
Hmmm ... The minute I heard from "The Lunch Group" that there's a hindi movie called Rock On!! that's gonna be released soon. I was like ok ... Maybe another one like Jhankaar Beats or something. But I was still curious. So finally after SO LONG [after joining Keane I literally stopped watching TV and listening to the radio :( ] I tuned into MTV and was eagerly waiting for the Rock On!! song to be played. [Reminded me of the gud ol coll days when I used to turn on VH1 and wait for my fav songs to be played] ...
After some time ... the song "Socha Hain" was aired ... I liked the song immediately ...
Then there was a power cut [during that period the trend was power cuts every nite for 2 hrs :p]...
So, I messaged Girish bout this movie and that I wanted ALL the songs of it. And he being the sweetheart that he always is got all the songs the next day ...
Th next day I was eagerly waiting for him to come to office ... and the 1st thing he told me was ... Only that "Socha Hai" is good ... I gave him a dirty look and a knock on his head and then transferred all the songs to my phone ... And I started listening to the songs ... I really LOVED all of them ... And in order to get more info bout this movie I went to my friend "Google" ...
It was then that a die hard fan of Rock On!! emerged ... [I'm talking bout myself here :p]
Yea ... I was TOTALLY a goner when I got to know that Rock On!! was a movie on aRock Bankd n all but what really impressed me was that all the songs were sung by our Mr. Farhan Akthar ...
And that Magik actually went through the pain of learning the instruments so that their performance were more realistic ... Me being a music buff and who's dream, like any other music buff, is to be part of a band was totally excited for this movie ...
I then got the lyrics of all the songs and learnt them by heart ... As the movie's release date was nearing my excitement was growing ... I really wanted to go for 1st day 1st show ... but unfortunately that dint happen .... :( :(
But nevertheless I went for 1st day night show ... I had learnt the lyrics of all the songs by then ... and was fully set to watch the movie ...
But what I expected and the way it turned out to be was like TOTALLY UNEXPECTED !!!
Oh man ... I still remember being stunned when the movie started off with the song "Socha Hai" it was like being in a concert and I was screaming my lungs out singing along ... It was something I'd never expected from a Bollywood movie ... :"> ...
I was so glad I had learnt all the lyrics ... coz otherwise you wudnt enjoy the movie that much ... I must say the story line of the movie aint anything unusual or different ... Just a simple story bout 4 friends, their youth, they pig-headedness, their friendship and respect for each other. :)
But the way the movie was presented was really AMAZING !! The songs were AMAZING !! Thanks to the talented Javed Akthar who has composed so beautifully ... I mean just compare Tum Ho To and Zeherile ...
Am sure you'll agree with me :D
Nywayz after that I started publicising Rock On !! ... My friends used to ask me ... Are you promoting Rock On !! r wat ... N I was like ... YES ... You should not miss it ...
And my advice to any1 who was gonna watch the movie was ... "Hey make sure you learn the lyrics ... so that u can sing along ... else the movie wont be enjoyable .."
I used to praise Farhan Akthar, :">, soooo much ... N Girish apparently hated him ... he was like ... "I agree he's a good director ... but actor? singer?" .... N believe me he got enough knocks on his head for that :p ...
But all this changed when we went for Rock On !! again as a team [from office]... Though I had already watched it I was still excited ... And my friends were all excited too coz I spoke SO MUCH bout it ...
And as expected ... we all enjoyed the movie ... we all screamed our lungs singing along all the songs ... that too in PVR ... we were the only lunatics screamin that loud that we thought the security guys will throw us out ... He He ...
The movie was Gr8 Fun !!! Singing Along ... Getting dirty looks from people around ... Uncle a.ka. Yogi scolding us ... Singing Rock On !! songs together while we were riding our bikes on our way back to office from the movie at 1.30 AM ....
We had a ROCKING Time !!!!
Impact of Rock On !! on us:
1. For almost a whole week we continously played Rock On songs at work with full volume
2. Girish LOVES Farhan
3. We adorned our cubicles with Rock On pictures
4. I started taking my guitar classes more seriously and am more dedicated now. [I NEVER bunked a class since !!!]
I can just go on and on and on but I guess I have to stop.
I have made as many people aware of Rock On !!. The only one who has not yet watched it is my duffer friend Dee. [poor gal ... NO TIME u c ... :( .... I'l be watching it again with her i guess :p]
I would like to conclude saying that "I repeat the movie is good only coz of the concert like presentation of the music" ... So if you watch it at home on a DVD n all u defn wont enjoy it n may not even like the movie ...
Many of you'll may think this blog is way too exaggerated. But this is nothing but the truth ... I am infact still excited bout Rock On !! ... Am sure Ammu [my cousin] and Naveen a.k.a Billi [my friend, who's another die hard Rock On !! fan] would agree to this. :) :) :) :)
Rock On!! - Live your Dream
Oopz ... In all my excitement I forgot to mention about the genius trio responsible for the HUGE hit of this move ... ThanQ Vino for pointing this out ...
The genius trio I am talking about are - Shanker Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani & Loy Medosa (in short SEL).
These guys have done an awsum job in introducing the rock genre` into Bollywood ...
"Pichle saat dino me" song's composition was just amazing specially the Guitar tune .... And so were Socha Hai and the Title song... Good thing about these songs were that typical rock band instruments like Drums, Rock guitar & electronic synthesizer were used and also not much of editing and synthetic sounds. In fact the songs are more appealing because Farhan's voice is not perfect... You relate to the imperfection in his voice ... Don't you? :)
Had there been editing to improvise the essence would have been lost !!!
Ehsaan Noorani says, "We composed like a rock band with the drums and bass set up and we all played live to the recorder . We cut this album like a band does which is essentially live...no programming." Also I was amazed to know that all Rock on songs were been composed in about just 5 days !! Just 5 days, ya !!! "Rock on" is first Bollywood rock album, says Ehsaan Noorani.

Farewells ...
Hmmmm ...
Niv [who's another total nutcase like me ... so we kinda got along very well :p], my colleague + part of the lunch group :p , had just two more days to complete serving her notice period.
And I wanted to draw something for her as she was one of really good friend. [or maybe just to save money in buying a gift :p].
Anyways whatever the case maybe I sat that night and started drawing. Once I was midway I was kinda reluctant to give away this drawing.
So by the time I finished the drawing any idea of giving it to Niv totally vanished :D :D :D.

Uncle a.k.a Yogi [no he aint an aged guy] , my team mate , was leaving our project. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
Yup ... We were all very sad ....
Hmmm ... I know you must be thinking .. WTH this is such a common thing in the s.w industry ... Well ... if you were in our team then u'd understand ...
We are this group of 5 ppl [Girish, Venkat, Yogi, Sandeep and I] who joint the project at the same time. And at that time we dint have any seniors to guide as all were onsite and even out manager left for the US to be the onsite co-ordinator. So we kinda grew together in the project. Facing all the ups and downs in the project. [v v v v v few ups though :p]. So it was indeed a really sad moment when he was leaving our project ...
Hmmm ... So as usual ... I thought I should start drawing ...
I guess by now you'd have realised that I aint the kinda person who wants to give away her drawings ... :p
But this time i dint have the déjà vu ...
Yea ... I actually completed the drawing ... framed it ... and gave it to him ... Yea .. I did get the feeling of not giving it to him ... But then I finally gave it to him ... coz I knew he'd be leaving the company too shortly and I wont be seeing him again ... :)
P.S: Uncle left our project 2 days later with a drawing and a gift and with loadsa best wishes from us . :">

I used to buy these Nylon Hair bands and they generally come on strips of cardboard which were just thrown into the bin. And then I thought I could use them as book marks. But then it was so plain so thought I'll draw something on it. And that's how what you see above originated. :p

My First Art Attack ...
Hmmm ... It was the Sunday before Woman's Day ... I remember I had been to E-Zone check to out digi cams ... And when we were leaving, the security guard gave me this pamphlet which described the offers that E-Zone had and stuff like that .. But what caught my attention was the pic of a funky babe with a WAIO in her hand ... I liked that pic soo much that I thought I should try drawing it ...
History:
Actually coming to think of it, I could never draw. Hell I used to trace out all the diagrams for my Biology record book way back in school. But then I dunno what happened all of a sudden from my engineering days I could draw.
Coming back to the present ... Yea .. so I drew it and I just found a few color pencils lying around and I thought to myself ... Why not color it ... And what you see below is the outcome...
I sent this to all my girl friends for Woman's Day ... :)
This was my first attempt to draw something after my engineering days and this was the first time I had even colored my work. :)
